The Central Railway will operate a mega block across key suburban sections of its Mumbai division on Sunday (December 14) to carry out engineering and maintenance works.
The block will affect services on the Main Line fast corridors and the Trans-Harbour Line, leading to diversions, delays and cancellations.
On the Main Line, UP and DOWN fast lines between Matunga and Mulund stations will remain under block from 11.05 am to 3.45 pm. During this period, DOWN fast services departing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10.36 am and 3.10 pm will be diverted onto the slow line at Matunga. These trains will halt at scheduled stations between Matunga and Mulund and are expected to reach their destinations approximately 15 minutes behind schedule. Fast services heading beyond Thane will be re-diverted to the fast line at Mulund.
Similarly, UP fast services leaving Thane between 11.03 am and 3.38 pm will be diverted to the slow line at Mulund, halt at scheduled stations up to Matunga, and then return to the fast line. These trains are also likely to face delays of around 15 minutes.
On the Trans-Harbour Line, UP and DOWN services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will remain suspended from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm. As a result, several services will be cancelled. DOWN trains towards Vashi, Nerul and Panvel departing Thane between 10.35 am and 4.07 pm, and UP trains towards Thane leaving Panvel, Nerul and Vashi between 10.25 am and 4.09 pm will not operate.
“These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and ensuring the safety of passengers,” said Dr Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway, while requesting commuters to cooperate during the disruption.
The Central Railway has advised passengers to plan their travel accordingly and check updates before commencing their journeys.
