BMC to celebrate ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’ campaign from August 9 to14

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is slated to undertake several activities as a part of the ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’ campaign which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at August Kranti Maidan on August 9.

The nationwide ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ programme will mark the conclusion of the two-year-long celebrations of 75 years of Independence, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

During the course of the campaign, which the BMC will celebrate between August 9 and 14, the civic body will undertake several activities including unveiling of Shilaphalakam, a memorial engraving the names of local martyrs, Panch Pran (Oath) ceremony where citizens from all wards will be encouraged to take oaths akin to the government, as well as many other activities to salute heroes from the defence forces and the police force. The BMC will also be carrying the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign forward this year.

Meanwhile, the civic body has also charted plans to create an ‘Amritvatika’ by carrying out plantation drives of saplings of 75 local species across three locations of the city’s eastern and western suburbs as well as the city division.
