BJP MLA Nitesh Rane seeks action against Sanjay Raut, Ambadas Danve over comments against Speaker Narwekar

Rane has listed the controversial statements made by Raut and Danve in the letter. According to the BJP MLA, Raut said, “The Speaker (Narwekar) is dishonest with the Constitution, law and Assembly. He is just dragging the case to buy time. The Speaker who holds a constitutional post is running the government, which is unconstitutional.”

He pointed out that Raut cast aspersions on the Speaker alleging that he was biased. Rane also drew attention to the Sena MP’s remark which said, “Whatever we do is rule. If the Speaker adopts this kind of high-handedness, it is bound to boomerang.”

By making the above statements, Raut has made serious charges against the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and it is appropriate that stern action be taken against him for violating the laid norms of the Legislative Assembly, Rane asserted.

Danve, purportedly commenting on the Speaker, had said earlier, “Justice delayed is justice denied.” According to Rane, “By making such statements in public, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Danve was indirectly putting pressure and trying to influence the case.”

Both factions of the Sena have asserted they are the real party and have sought disqualification of each other’s members. As the hearing in this regard is in progress, any attempt to make adverse comments against the Speaker would be a violation of laid norms, the BJP MLA stated.
