(File) A day after Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was made the guardian minister of Pune, state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule Thursday said the party has always played the role of big brother to ensure its alliance partners’ interests are safeguarded.
Bawankule was speaking in Tasgaon in Sangli district addressing the party workers during the “Ghar chalo abhiyan”.
On Wednesday, Ajit Pawar was made Pune’s guardian minister replacing senior minister Chandrakant Patil of BJP.
Bawankule said, “In any family it is always the big brother who takes a step back to accommodate the concerns of other members. So, this is nothing new.”
According to Bawankule, the cabinet expansion will take place soon and there will be 13 to 14 new ministers.
At present, the state cabinet has a total 29 ministers including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his two deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
The maximum number of ministers permissible in Maharashtra cabinet is 43.
