Chadrashekhar Bawankule, who heads the committee, said that Bhujbal presented 15-20 such fake certificates in the meeting.

Demanding a committee to scrutinise the fake Kunbi (OBC) certificates given to Maratha community members, Senior Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party’s OBC leader Chhagan Bhujbal Tuesday alleged that the Government Resolution issued to implement the Hyderabad Gazette was being misused.

“I presented facts in the cabinet sub-committee meeting held today. While the Kunbi certificates are being distributed right now, those are based on papers which see erasing and altering of information by hand on papers,” said Bhujbal, who presented fake certificates in the meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on OBC issues headed by Revenue minister Chadrashekhar Bawankule.

Bhujbal said, “The Justice Shinde committee was set up by the state government to ensure that Maratha community members are given Kunbi (OBC) certificates. A new committee of a similar composition must be set up now to probe fake and dubious Kunbi certificates being distributed.” He mentioned that the demand was raised in the sub-committee meeting and will be acted upon soon.

Last week, at a meeting of the sub-committee on OBC matters, Bhujbal had demanded that the September 2 GR of Maharashtra government implementing the Hyderabad Gazette should be withdrawn.

Bawankule, who heads the committee, said that Bhujbal presented 15-20 such fake certificates in the meeting. “Fake certificates based on altered or changed documents should not be given. Instructions will be given for the same,” he said.

Bhujbal had earlier alleged that OBCs received Rs 2,500 crore from the state government in the last 25 years while the Maratha community got Rs 25,000 crore in the last three years alone. “The Annasaheb Patil Financial Development Corporation was given Rs 750 crore while the Maharashtra State OBC Finance and Development Corporation was given Rs five crore only. This contradiction does not present a good picture and must be changed,” he said.

He however did not reply when it was pointed out that NCP president Ajit Pawar has been the Finance minister of Maharashtra for many of the years in the past two decades and whether it was done on his behest.
