BEST restores bus services on 33 routes

Some of the buses which have been restored are 93 Ltd from Govandi station to Mantralaya, 70 from Kalakilla Depot to Colaba Depot, C-55 Exp from Bandra bus station to CBD Belapur, 384 from Santa Cruz bus depot to Ghatkopar bus station and many others.

The BEST had come under fire when it announced of cancelling 52 of its bus services which generated the least income for the public transport last week. However, as the decision had not gone down well with the opposition members in the BEST committee, the decision was asked to be revoked.

On Monday, many Shiv Sena corporators rushed in to BEST General Manger Jagdish Patil’s office to ask for the removal of the cancellation order of the buses. Following which, Patil agreed to restoring the buses and confirmed of doing a study of their services for a period of three months to calculate its income-generating capacity.

The BEST has also changed and extended routes of a few other buses to ensure more commuters.
