The Mumbai police along with the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) are on the lookout of a 29-year-old Bangladeshi national who escaped from ATS custody early Monday.

According to police, the accused Shahadat Hashim Sheikh was arrested in December 2022 for illegally staying in the country and was jailed after he confessed in court.

However, he escaped from custody while the agency was in the process of deporting him back to his country, police said. “He had served punishment and was kept in ATS office since the first week of November on court’s order till the completion of formality to deport him to Bangladesh,” said a police officer.
