Congress is most corrupt party, its leaders criticise nation abroad: PM Modi

In Wardha, PM Modi said Congress has deliberately deprived SC, ST, and OBCs of development and growth.

While describing Congress as the most “dishonest and corrupt” party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said it has an anti-national agenda as he reiterated his charge that it is run by a “tukde tukde gang” and “urban Naxals”.

While addressing a gathering at Wardha district, the Prime Minister said the Congress party has the audacity to cage Lord Ganesh in a police van, and it shows the extent to which it can stoop for appeasement politics. It was an apparent reference to a viral photo that showed a Ganesh idol in a police van in Congress-ruled Karnataka.

PM Modi was in the city in the eastern Vidarbha region of Maharashtra to commemorate the year of PM Vishwakarma Yojna and lay the foundation stone for PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Amravati.

“When its leaders go abroad they grossly undermine the nation. They insult our tradition and culture. Now, they have problems with my worshipping Lord Ganesh. Or else how does one explain their criticism,” he said without naming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who the BJP has attacked for his remark in the US against the reservation system.

Modi was also referring to his visit to Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud’s residence during the Ganesh festival last week, which invited sharp criticism from Opposition parties. “What is strange is Congress allies (Shiv Sena-UBT and NCP-SP) are silent on it. They have not said a word. But such insult and humiliation will not be tolerated by the people of India,” he warned.

Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, PM Modi also cautioned people to ensure that the Maha Vikas Aghadi does not come back to power in Maharashtra as it would be detrimental to the state’s development.

While holding the Congress responsible for keeping farmers and backward communities in financial distress, Modi continued his attack and said, “In the last 70 years, successive Congress governments have deliberately deprived the SC, ST, and OBCs of development and growth. Whereas, our government has initiated bold reform through Vishwakarma Yojna to not only make them financially self-reliant but emerge as entrepreneurs”.

The Prime Minister said it was Mahatma Gandhi who had given a clarion call against untouchability in 1932. “Post Independence, the Congress changed. Today’s Congress is bereft of desh bhakti,” he said.

“We want to restore the thousand-year-old rich tradition where the role of our craftsman and artisan will be crucial. They will be a major contributor to India becoming the world’s third-largest economy.” “The cotton growers of Vidarbha were relegated to poverty and distress because of Congress’s anti-farmer policies. Whereas, our government through several measures have worked to enhance irrigation potential and provide infrastructure through schemes like PM MITRA Park in Amravati”.

The objective of PM Mitra Park, he said, is to boost the textile sector as a global leader. “It will not only fetch huge investments but generate over one lakh jobs. It will serve the larger objective of farm-to-fibre to factory-to-fashion to foreign — empowering farmers in Vidarbha. Along with this, new ancillary units will come up opening job opportunities for youths, he added.

Earlier, the PM issued certificates and loans to 18 beneficiaries representing 18 trades under the Vishwakarma Yojna.
