According to the MET records, Mumbai — both Santacruz and Colaba — was the hottest city of Maharashtra on Monday (Express)Mumbai reeled under a maximum temperature of 35.4 degrees Celsius, nearly 4.3 degrees above the normal, making the city hottest in the state on Monday.
While the weather bureau has forecast a dip in temperatures from Tuesday, another wave of hot temperatures are likely on cards from January 25 when temperatures are to soar upto 36 degrees.
For the past few days, the city has been sweltering under abnormally high day time temperatures for January with the maximum temperatures hovering between 34-35 degrees since January 17.
Data from India Meteorological Department (IMD) showed that on Monday, the Santacruz station logged 35.4 degrees while the Colaba coastal observatory also registered 24 degrees, which was also over 3.8 degree Celsius above the normal.
According to the MET records, Mumbai — both Santacruz and Colaba — was the hottest city of Maharashtra on Monday. Night time ushered some respite for citizens as the minimum temperatures dipped to 18.1 degrees , which was 0.9 degrees above the normal, on Monday morning.
In its forecast bulletin, the IMD has said that the temperatures are slated to dip up to 31 degrees from Wednesday. However, the drop is slated to be short live as the IMD has forecast yet another spike of up to 36 degrees between January 25 and 26.
For the record, the city had previously logged 36 degrees on January 3 — which was its hottest January day since 2016.
