Should hear FRRO to consider Nooriya plea: HC

The Bombay High Court on Friday said it would not consider the plea of Nooriya Haveliwala,accused in a case of drink driving that led to the death of two people in January last year,to leave the city unless the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) is heard. Haveliwala had sought a stay on an FRRO order of April 12,2010,which restrained her from leaving the city apprehending that she might evade trial in the case. She contended that a sessions court had already granted her permission to leave the city for a limited period.

Consider docs’ plea: HC to state

The High Court on Friday asked the state and Central governments to consider two doctors suffering from lower limb disability — Ahijeet Bhavsar and Sachin Makhe — for post-graduate admissions to non-surgical branches of medical courses. Bhavsar and Makhe had filed two separate petitions in the court after they were denied permission to seek admission to the courses. Their advocates V M Thorat and Pooja Thorat told the court that they had succesfully completed their under-graduate medical education and were erroneously certified as having more than 90% disability. The court adjourned the case till April 5.

Cops seize adulterated oil

The Crime Branch raided a trading company in Dahisar and arrested five persons on charges of hoarding adulterated edible oil earlier this week. The police seized 33,592 litres of oil. “Our unit was alerted that adulterated oil was being hoarded at the MSRT Agro Oil and Om Trading Company, on SN Dubey Road in Dahisar,where one Hemraj Gajra and his associates had hoarded a large amount of edible oil,” an officer said. “We have arrested five — Hemraj Gajra (58),Ashwin Gajra (28),Bhavesh Gajra (25),Kailas Yadav (35) and Vijay Pal (35). They have been remanded in police custody.”
