Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former Maharashtra minister Anil Parab on Monday claimed that BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has withdrawn a petition he filed before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) against Dapoli’s Sai Resort, which at one point was owned by Parab, as the tribunal was about to dismiss it.

The petition alleged violation of environmental norms at the resort.

Speaking at a press conference in Matoshree, Parab said, “I have been saying since the beginning that there is no truth in the allegations. But I have been defamed in this matter. Now when it came up before the green tribunal, the tribunal said that there is no environmental violation… The NGT was dismissing the case and to avoid the embarrassment, Somaiya withdrew the plea.”

“Since Somaiya has been making false accusations, I have filed a defamation case in the High Court. Kirit Somaiya will have to apologise or pay Rs 100 crore,” Parab added.

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya claimed that the IT and ED have taken requisite action against Sai Resort. “Since Parab moved the HC, I have withdrawn the petition in NGT on technical grounds,” Somaiya said.
