Police suspect heart blockage and internal head injury led to actor Aditya Singh Rajput’s death

“A small injury on the rear left of his head was recorded during the panchnama. There was no bleeding, but there was a visible swelling on that part of the head. We suspect that he sustained a serious internal head injury. Doctors have also found a blockage in his heart. But the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained as postmortem report is awaited. His viscera has been preserved for further examination,” a police officer said.

“We suspect he slipped and fell. His head probably hit the corner of a tiled portion as the the tiles are found broken on that area of the bathroom,” the officer added.

“We do not suspect any foul play in the incident, but an investigation is on,” an officer said, requesting anonymity.

The postmortem was performed at Siddharth Hospital in Goregaon after which the body was handed over to his mother. The family has not filed a complaint and is likely to perform his last rites in Oshiwara.

According to police sources, on Sunday night, Rajput had a party at his place with three of his friends that lasted till midnight.

Next morning Rajput, a resident of the 11th-floor flat of Lashkaria Greenwood Heights in Oshiwara, woke up around 11 am. He had a paratha for breakfast. After some time, he started feeling uncomfortable and started vomiting.
Around 2 pm, he told his helper Arun Chaudhari Kamath that he was not feeling well and had been suffering from cold, cough and vomiting for four days. He asked Arun to cook khichdi for him, said sources.

Around 2.30 pm, Rajput went to the bathroom to vomit, and a few seconds later, Arun heard a loud sound. He rushed to the bathroom and found the actor lying unconscious on the floor.

Arun called the guard for help and a doctor from the ground checked Rajput and declared him dead. The police were then informed, and the body was sent for postmortem.

“We are investigating all angles and are waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain the exact cause,” said Krishnakant Upadhyay, deputy commissioner of police (detection-1), who is holding additional charge of the DCP zone-9 office.

While there have been claims of a possible drug overdose, a senior officer said, “We have filed an accidental death report (ADR) and further investigation is on.”

Police have recorded the statements of the house help and the watchman who were present at Rajput’s residence. They are also planning to examine his mobile phone.

Rajput has been part of shows like Splitsvilla 9, Rajputana, Code Red and Yeh Hai Aashiqui among others.

He also acted in films such as Aadi King, Mom and Dad and Lovers. A regular face in commercials, Aditya was also a social media influencer associated with agencies as a casting coordinator.
