A petitioner who had earlier sought to make former chief minister Shivajirao Nilangekar Patil an accused in the alleged Adarsh housing society scam on Friday alleged before a special CBI court that CBI chief Ranjit Sinha had been meeting the accused in the case too and demanded that he be summoned in the court. Citing The Indian Express report dated September 4 which stated that the CBI director met a number of people named in cases that were or being investigated by the agency, the petitioner, Pravin Wategaonkar, urged the court to summon him on September 6 or 8 to justify the probe agency’s opposition to his plea to hear his petition on an “urgent basis”. While granting the probe agency four days to challenge its earlier order in which it had agreed to “urgently” hear Wategaonkar’s application, the special CBI court dismissed his plea to summon Sinha while posting further arguments in the matter for September 9. mumbai.newsline@expressindia.com
