A 79-YEAR-OLD woman was found dead at her second-floor residence in Prabhadevi on Wednesday morning.
Dadar police believe the woman staying alone at the flat in Omkar Building could have died of natural causes as there was sign of any injury.
Police said Manisha Suresh Adis body had no injury marks. Police ruled out robbery as no valuables or jewellery were missing from her house.
Madhukar Sankhe,Assistant Commissioner of Police (Dadar) said they had sent the body for post-mortem to ascertain whether she was strangulated. There was no sign of violence and the woman was found without any injury marks,ruling out murder, said Sankhe. Police said neighbours informed them about the body.
On Wednesday,neighbours found that she had not collected the newspapers. Manisha had not opened the door for her domestic help either. A neighbour opened the door using a spare key and found the senior citizen on the floor. We suspect Manisha must have died on Tuesday morning, said Sankhe. She had lost her husband in 2004 and had two daughters. One passed away a few years ago,the other lives in Australia.
Manishas granddaughter has been informed about the death, said an officer from Dadar police. Manisha suffered from diabetes and had survived three heart attacks earlier,police said and added that she used to do most of the household chores on her own. She was very social and had many friends in the building with whom she used to talk everyday.
