Officials from Solapur rural police said the accident took place around 4.30 pm on Akkalkot to Wagdari road. Five women and a boy were killed and 10 more were seriously injured when a passenger vehicle carrying pilgrims returning after a visit to the temple town of Akkalkot in Solapur district was hit by a cement bulker tanker on Friday afternoon.
Officials from Solapur rural police said the accident took place around 4.30 pm on Akkalkot to Wagdari road. Superintendent of Police, Solapur Rural, Shirish Sardeshpande said, “The cement bulker tanker collided head on with the Cruiser passenger vehicle killing six persons on the spot and seriously injuring 10.”
The victims were identified as Sangeeta Madan Mane (35), Chhaya Hanumant Nanavare (46), Lalita Mahadev Bugge (50), Rohini Gopal Pujari (40), Sundarabai Rajput (55) and Sainath Govind Pujari (10).
