1,700 potholes & reporting on civic portal

Over a span of 48 hours,citizens have reported over 600 potholes on BMC’s website — http://www.voiceofcitizen.com. The website is BMC’s pothole tracking portal.

The number has increased sharply after the city experienced moderately heavy rainfall of 48.1 mm in Santacruz,and 24 mm in Colaba on June 18.

As of June 19,approximately 1,700 potholes complaints have been registered on the website,of which less than 13 per cent (208 potholes) have been fixed. Of the 1700 potholes,1061 were registered under the civic roads department central agency,while another 444 fell under the ward officers’

jurisdiction.

Under the civic roads central agency,a total of 200 potholes were fixed on Wednesday as there was little rainfall,allowing for repairs.

So far,under the central agency,L Ward (Kurla) has the highest recorded potholes at 102,of which only 16 have been repaired. F North ward which includes Sion and parts of Matunga,registered the second highest number at 83,while the E ward came a close third with 74 potholes. Of these,the response rate in E ward has been the poorest with not a single pothole repaired yet.

The least potholes on the central agency’s roads were in M West ward of Chembur. Four of the 13 potholes recorded there have been fixed.

Meanwhile,the roads under the ward officers’ jurisdiction have registered 444 pothole complaints,and only potholes in F North and N wards have been filled. While F north has repaired 7 of its 21 potholes,N ward has repaired only one of its 26 recorded.

Under the BMC’s other agencies,135 potholes were recorded and 41 on other non-BMC roads. None of these potholes have been filled.
