Water bills sent late,residents rush to pay

Gurpreet Singh,a resident of Punjab Mata Nagar said,“Last time,no bill was delivered in our area and this time previous arrears have been added. This is not fair. The employees themselves never distribute the bills and later ask the consumer to pay a huge amount.”

In Vishal Nagar,Vikas Nagar,Karnail Singh Nagar and few other colonies bills were distributed on Friday and the last date for depositing bills was today (Monday). “Satudray and Sunday were holidays,so virtually we got one day to deposit the bills,this is not fair,” said Parminder Singh,another Punjab Mata Nagar resident.

When Newsline contacted Manjit Singh,Superintending Engineer of the Operation and Maintenance Cell,he said,“I have called the distributing staff tomorrow morning to know the reasons for the delay. Bills must be delivered 15 days before the last date.”
