Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, media advisor to former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, was questioned by the Vigilance Bureau for three hours in the infamous City Centre case at the VB office here today.

Chahal, who had been called to reply to the queries in the City Centre case, arrived at the Vigilance office at sharp 10 am. A team led by VB SSP Kanwarjit Singh Sandhu interrogated him. He left the VB office around 1 pm. As soon as the media persons surrounded him to take his comments,Chahal skirted media queries, saying,”The matter is sub judice. I cannot comment on it.”

When mediapersons asked him whether he was harassed or humiliated by the VB staff,Chahal who seemingly looked upset, did not reply and slipped into his car along with his lawyers.

Chahal who used to be at the centrestage of affairs during Amarinder Singh’s regime, was accompanied by two of his advocates who waited for him outside the VB office.

SSP Sandhu too said,”The matter is sub judice and I can’t tell you anything about today’s questioning.”

Sources said though Chahal is not among the accused in the chargesheet submitted by the VB in the case,he had allegedly played a key role and was in the possession of important information related to the scam.

Earlier,Chahal was questioned in the City Centre case on June 10 in 2007. But when he had come out after the questioning by VB officers,he was arrested by the Sadar police in another case of trying to grab somebody’s land and attempt to murder.
