Unidentified assailants shot at a trader near the Dugri bridge on the Sidhwan canal late on Saturday night. The injured businessman,Naveen Aggarwal (32),a resident of Shakti Vihar colony in Haibowal,has been admitted to the DMC Hospital and his condition is stated to be out of danger.
Aggarwal was reportedly going back home in his car when the armed men attacked him around 11 pm.
Ashok Gupta,a relative of the victim,said the accused tried to stop Naveen’s car. “On seeing their covered faces,Naveen sped away,” said Gupta.
He said the accused,who too were in a car,fired shots at Naveen’s car from behind and one of the bullets brushed aside Naveen’s chest after hitting the glass of his car.
“Even after getting hit by a bullet,Naveen did not panic and immediately turned his vehicle towards the DMC Hospital and called me up,” he said.
The Model Town SHO,Beant Kumar Juneja,told Newsline,”We have registered an attempt to murder case against unidentified persons. It is suspected that this attack is the handiwork of three to four persons. We are investigating the matter from all the angles.”
