A man admitted in the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) is suspected to be suffering from dengue, hospital records have suggested. If confirmed, this would be the first case of dengue in the season. Dr Sandeep Puri, medical superintendent at DMCH,said the person has tested positive for malaria, but,it is yet not verified as a case of dengue. “We have confirmed malaria in the patient . Even as the symptoms like low platelet count are the same as in dengue,we need to wait for the final confirmation,” he said. He added that cases of malaria were on the rise, with residents reporting for the disease on a daily basis. Dr Puri said the hospital was receiving at least two patients on an average every day in its indoor department.
