Finding no way out,the ‘overburdened’ Block Resource Persons of Ludhiana district on Saturday protested against Krishan Kumar,Director General,Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan,Punjab. All the 112 BRPs along with the active support of BRPs of three districts —Sangrur,Patiala and Gurdaspur — held a three-hour-long protest at the Mini Secretariat.

Addressing the gathering,Harpreet Singh Siar,President of Block Resource Persons Association, said,“We have to juggle many roles for the SSA. From monitoring different projects to distribution of civil works like distribution of books, weekly question papers, keeping the record of construction of buildings in different schools, checking their vouchers, distribution of grants, holding meetings of Village Education Development committees and maintaining its record etc,we remain on our toes all the time.”

Another member of the association said,“The most hectic and practically non-feasible work of distribution of weekly question papers in all the government schools. Many-a-time,we get the information to collect these question papers on Saturday afternoon and it becomes very difficult for us to distribute these papers on time in each school.”

He further said,“Each BRP is supposed to distribute these question papers to 20 schools of his block. It is a very time consuming job.”

The members of the association said,“Before August 15,we were ordered to issue instructions to schools to construct flag poles. But there were no clear cut instruction as how the schools should celebrate Independence Day,as what should be the dimensions of the tricolour. The instructions were quite vague and created a lot of confusion.”

The BRPs and DRPs gave a memorandum of their demands to DG(SSA) Punjab and demanded to lessen their workload.
