Police raids hookah bars,find minors smoking

The Ludhiana Police raided two leading hookah bars of the city late Monday evening. Police parties from Division number eight,Sarabha Nagar Police post station along with officials of the health department raided Groovy Gravies located near Dayanand Medical College and Hospital and Mr Bean joint,situated in the main Sarabha Nagar market.

According to the police, minor girls and boys were found smoking in these bars. While the police let the minors off with a warning the health department has issued challans to the eighteen boys and five girls.

The police has also booked Dinesh Walai,who runs Groovy gravies,and Dwarka Nath,the manager of Mr Bean,under sections 269 and 272 of the Indian Penal Code. They have also confiscated samples,of imported flavoured powder being used in the hookahs. The samples will be tested to check for the presence of any kind of tobacco.
