Buys 5-acre plot, plans to build Bal Bhawan along with 200 rooms for needy senior citizens
After constructing Heavenly Homes for senior citizens at a 14-acre area near Doraha,Ludhiana district,US and Dubai-based non-resident Indian (NRI) businessman Anil Kumar Monga now plans to build a home for elders who are needy. For this purpose,he has already purchased 5 acres of land in front of the earlier constructed building.
This time Monga intends to build a Bal Bhawan along with two hundred rooms for deprived senior citizens. To monitor all these activities,a trust named Dream and Beauty Charitable Trust has been established with Monga as chairman. Disclosing this, former Punjabi University (Patiala) Vice-Chancellor and State Planning Board Vice-Chairman Dr S S Johal, who is now an advisor to this Trust, said These 200 rooms will be given to old people who have no roof on their head and nobody to take care of them. They will be provided free,ie there will be no boarding and lodging charges. They will just be asked to monitor the maintenance of the home.
It was at the beginning of this year that Anil Kumar came with 400 well-furnished rooms for senior citizens in a 14-acre area. All the rooms are well-equipped with modern facilities,on the lines of five-star hotels.
There is a three-story building in an area of 13,000 square feet. On the ground floor there are rooms attached with bathrooms while the other floors include an entertainment area with a library,a meditation room,a 20-bed hospital and conference hall.
The kitchen is equipped with latest equipment where steamed food is cooked. At present two or three rooms of these are occupied by senior citizens. But to stay in these rooms, one has to pay for the food and maintenance. Any senior citizen can come and live here by giving prior notice of just a day as we have beds, bedding and everything else that is required to settle down, said Johal.
He further informed that Heavenly Homes would be formally launched in January.
Ludhiana senior citizen Dr Amarjit Singh, who has visited the place, said,This whole project is worth Rs 100 crore. This NRI spends all his profits on charitable work. He has also been holding free langars for about 1,000 people at Chandigarh Road since 1995 and runs a hospital under the name Karma adjoining to it,where free check-ups and medicines are provided.
Recently Monga also started a computer centre for needy people where after three months of computer training, the youngsters are also provided jobs. Even after that the centre continues to monitor them. This computer centre has proved a boon for needy girls.
