The judicial officers and members of the District Bar Association (DBA) organised a get-together on Saturday to greet each other on the first working day of the new year. Sukh Dhaliwal,Member of Parliament Newton House of Commons (Canada) was the guest of honour along with Kamaljit Hayre,president of the Punjab NRI Sabha,was also present on the occasion. While addressing the function,Dhaliwal and Hayre appreciated the legal guidance and counselling provided to NRIs,over talk shows,regarding their legal cases and problems for the last four years by a city-based lawyer and former Additional Advocate General (AAG),Punjab Harpreet Sandhu. They also congratulated Parupkar Singh Ghuman on being elected as the DBA President twice. Former AAG Harpreet Sandhu also addressed the Bar members on the Role of the Bar and the Bench. Prominent faces which were spotted at the gathering included District and Sessions Judge Justice G K Rai,DBA president Parupkar Singh Ghuman,Punjab cabinet minister Hira Singh Gabria,Lok Sabha MP Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and Punjab BJP chief Professor Rajinder Bhandari among others.
