A peaceful stay-in strike of Kamla Lohtia S D College’s teaching and non teaching employees entered day 11 on Wednesday.

A peaceful stay-in strike of Kamla Lohtia S D College’s teaching and non teaching employees entered day 11 on Wednesday. Head of the Department of Punjabi Bimlesh Gupta and non-teaching staff Ram Kesh observed a chain hunger strike peacefully.

The protesting teachers complained that the “attitude of the management is clearly reflected through the fact that the elected staff representative have never been called to attend any meeting of the Managing Committee for the last two years. Even the meeting of Managing Committee at which the decision on Sunil Aggarwal’s suspension was taken was illegal as the staff representatives were not called at that meeting. A representation regarding this has been sent to the president of the Managing Committee, principal of the college and vice-chancellor of the University,” said Rohit Kumar, president of the PCCTU local unit.

He added that the principal of the college,Dr Shiv Mohan Sharma, should act responsibly, especially while giving statements to the media. Dinesh Malik and Bimlesh Gupta stated that the teachers participating in the stay-in strike are allowing admissions peacefully.

They added that they have full faith in the district administration and expect that the district authorities will stand by them for their genuine demands.
