Jhuggis near Orient Cinema demolished

In a demolition drive conducted on Wednesday by the MC,around 100 jhuggis situated behind Orient Cinema were demolished. The dwellers had encroached upon the land,which was earlier under the Ludhiana Improvement Trust,and now with the MC. The dwellers pelted stones at the MC officials,but later police officials brought the situtation under control. All the gadgets in the jhuggis used to run with kundi connections. Assistant town planner Rajesh Kumar said,”I am surprised that the power corporation never checked the theft of power”.
