Input tax credit can be claimed till 4th stage only
Reacting strongly to the recent notification regarding input tax credit (ITC) which according to the Sales Tax and Excise department can be claimed only upto the 4th stage,retailers and wholesalers in Kesarganj Mandi today burnt copies of the notification. Sugar and other grocery item wholesalers gathered in the market and staged a protest. Jagjit Singh,president of the Wholesale Sugar Association,said many retailers will lose huge business. Badish Jindal,president of the Federation of Associations of Small Industries of India,said,“Many small traders will be suffering because of the new notification,which has been implemented to catch a few tax evaders but it will be affecting lakhs of genuine traders.” The industrialists have demanded withdrawal of this notification with immediate effect.

Stock clearance
After auctioning old vehicles lying in the stores of the Municipal Corporation,it is now time to auction old stock in tehbazari stores. Senior Deputy Mayor Parveen Bansal on Tuesday visited the tehbazari store and saw a huge stock lying inside. These included old rehris,boards and many other things. The Municipal Corporation can earn lakhs out of this junk,said Bansal. The date of the auction will be decided soon,he added.

Trader goes missing
Gulshan Kumar,45,a resident of Jawahar Nagar has been missing for over a month now. The local police have appealed to the public for any clue about Kumar who went missing on February 18 from his shop. Vijay Kumar a relative of Gulshan Kumar,informed,“He used to run a shop called Bharti Traders. On February 18,he left his home for the shop but did not return. His clothes were found near the Surhind canal a few days later and a search for his body was launched. But till date,there has been clue about Kumar.”

EB Club inaugurated
BCM Dugri started an EB Club here on Tuesday to stress the importance of communication skills and fluency in English. “The EB Club will equip students to face the challenges of life in the globalised world,” said a school official. Satyanand Munjal inaugurated the club.
