Two arrested for selling cylinders in black market
The Basti Jodhewal police have nabbed two people for selling LPG cylinders in black market. Those arrested are Naresh Kumar,who runs a cycle repair shop in the area,and his worker Ashok Kumar,who used to supply these refilled cylinders in the area. As per the SHO,Basti Jodhewal,Mandeep Singh,the police was tipped of about this fraud by one Munish Kumar following which the police raided the shop owned by Naresh. The police seized 20 cylinders from the shop while another 10 were recovered from Ashok Kumar. der. The police claimed that the duo used to sell these cylinders at the rate of Rs 600 per cylinder.

Four injured as fire breaks out
Four people,all residents of Gensh Nagar,received severe burn injuries after a stove placed inside their room burst. As per Gurdev Singh,SHO,Vijay Kumar,Anwar Ansari,Sadam and Raj Kumar were inside the room when the stove burst and very soon the fire spread. The four have been brought to the local civil hospital where as per the doctors,they received 70% burns. The

Charan Kamal Singh,a rabies expert from GADVASU,has bagged “Savthree Jibachchc Sinha best poster presentation award” at the national level during the annual conference of Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists. This award has been for his poster presentation titled,“Ante-mortem detection of rabies antibodies: immuno-diagnostic approach”.

Rs 10 crore sought for renovation of ponds
The Zila Parishad Chairman has demanded Rs 10 crore for the renovation of ponds in Ludhiana district from Government of India. This demand was presented to Rajwant Sandhu,Secretary to Government of India,Department of Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation,who was in the city to oversee the progress of rural water supply and sanitation project in rural areas of Ludhiana district.
