Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) has included Road Safety in its curriculum from this session. At its 26th meeting,the Academic Council of GADVASU approved Road Safety as a compulsory qualifying subject from this academic session. It will be called Environment Education and Road Safety.
While the subject will merge with one of the other compulsory qualifying subjects – Environment Education – which is to be changed to Environment Education and Road Safety,the modalities for the course work are yet to be finalised,informed Punjab State Road Safety Council Vice Chairman Dr Kamajit Soi.
Soi said that the Council has been persuading educational institutions to include it as a part of their curriculum. He added that several meetings have taken place and letters written to all university authorities pertaining to the importance of awareness on road safety among the students .
The paper would be of 70 marks for Environment Education for 30 marks for Road Safety. Students will be graded as Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory.
