The annual convocation of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College,Ludhiana,was held today The programme started with the Invocation and recitation of ‘SHABAD by students of the college. College Director Dr M S Saini presented the annual report for the year 2010-2011.
Dr Saini complimented the Training & Placement Cell of the college for the number of placements of its scholars in MNCs such as Microsoft,Infosys,Tata Consultancy Services,Accenture,Convergys,HCL,Gammon India,Kirloskar,ITC,Mahindra & Mahindra,Punj Lloyd etc. In his convocation address,Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Avtar Singh referred to some of the evils afflicting our society. In this context he cited from the Sri Guru Nanaks bani.
He referred to the pioneering efforts made by the SGPC to sign MoUs with institutes of higher learning in England and New Zealand to enable the students of SGPC-run colleges to move to these countries for augmenting and enhancing their skills and expertise.
Swati Chaturvedi and Varun Sharma were given gold medals for standing first in the PTU examinations in 2010-2011. About 250 students were awarded PhDs,post-graduate and graduate degrees in civil engineering,mechanical engineering,electrical engineering,electronics & communication engineering,computer engineering,information technology,production engineering and management.
