DC instructs city schools to defer their fee-hike decision till April 20

Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Vikas Garg has ordered city schools to keep their fee-hike decision in abeyance till April 20,when Additional Commissioner (ADC) Kuldeep Singh will handover his report to the DC. This was stated by Ludhiana (West) SDM Prem Chand on the behalf of the DC today.

Parveen Dang,President,Hindu-Sikh Jagriti Manch said,“The SDM today sent a letter to various city schools regarding the fee-hike issue. The letter states,“Since the matter regarding the hike in fees is under the consideration of the administration and an enquiry is being conducted by the ADC,therefore,it would be appreciated if you keep your decision in abeyance till April 20,2009.”

The letters has been sent to schools including Jain Public School,Green Land School,GMT,Sat Paul Mittal School,DAV Public School,Sacred Heart School,Sacred Heart Convent School,Sacred Heart Convent School in Jamalpur,Sacred Heart Convent Bhattiyan,Shiwalikwala Doon School,St Thomas School,Delhi Public School,Kundan Vidya Mandir,BCM School and Guru Nanak Public School.

The parents of wards studying in different schools were on hunger strike over the fee-hike issue for the past many days. Many schools increased fee structure from 25 per cent to 35 per cent which will burn a big hole in the pockets of parents.

Confirming the move,the SDM (West) said,“We have requested schools to keep their decision in abeyance till April 20. Till then they may charge according to the old pattern or can wait for the report of enquiry.”
