Day 3: Pharmacists continue chain hunger strike

Pharmacists working on contract in various rural dispensaries of the state are sitting on a chain hunger strike in the mini secretariat for the past three days to get their demands implemented.

Pharmacists working on contract in various rural dispensaries of the state are sitting on a chain hunger strike in the mini secretariat for the past three days to get their demands implemented. A total of 1186 pharmacists and an equal number of class four employees were recruited about five years back for rural health dispensaries on contract. Doctors were also appointed on contract.

Kulraj Singh,President of the association,said,“While doctors have been regularised,they are still on contract. So they are sitting on hunger strike so as to get their demands fulfilled.”

Four persons are sitting on hunger strike on daily basis. Singh said that the strike will continue till their demands are met.
