Dashmesh Nagar gets polluted water

More than 2,000 houses in Dashmesh Nagar are getting acidic water for the past many days. The residents,meanwhile,said apart from bicycle parts manufacturing units even a few electroplating units doing zinc and nickel plating business are operating from the area.

A deputation of residents complained to MC Assistant Commissioner Amarjit Singh Sekhon today morning. “We are getting pale yellow water. The water seems to be acidic,because once it is thrown on the floor fumes can be seen emerging from the water,” said Kashmir Singh,husband of area councillor Sukhwinder Kaur Sheera.

They are boiling water to avoid any stomach infections.

Sekhon said,“I am aware of the problem and workers have been sent to the spot. They have located one leakage point.”

He added,“At times a private pipe bursts and it causes contamination. But workers are yet to find out the exact cause.”
