Gourav Kashyap,a karate player and son of an auto rickshaw driver from Bathinda, was unable to participate in the recently held tournament in Malaysia, due to short of funds. Kashyap, who received the title of ‘Sir Martial’ from Actor Akshay Kumar’s martial arts institute and is a brown belt holder, will now be able to participate in the International Judo-Karate tournament in Bhutan that will be held from September 21,as city-based industrial house Avon Cycles has decided to sponsor him.

Company MD Onkar Singh Pahwa said,“My sons came up with the idea to form an Avon Cycles Sports Club to financially help budding players. We decided to start with Kashyap. Such young sportspersons need to be encouraged”.

Pahwa further said that his sons Rishi Pahwa and Mandeep Pahwa would also assist him to handle the activities of the Sports Club. “The Club will not seek support from any NGO or government institution. Executive members of the Club will identify budding sportspersons from across Punjab and provide them all possible support.
