Basti Jodhewal murder case cracked, two accused confess

The Basti Jodhewal police claimed to have solved a blind murder that came to light on February 16.

The Basti Jodhewal police claimed to have solved a blind murder that came to light on February 16. The Basti Jodhewal police had found the dead body of an unidentified youth who had been hit on his head with bricks and was found with his throat slashed.

ADCP Sushil Kumar said,“At first,we were facing a huge problem as no one in the area could identify the youth. We then got the news and picture published in a newspaper, after which a lady approached us with a complaint that her son had been missing for some days. When we showed her the picture she recognised the youth as her son Surjit Singh alias Kaka.”

ADCP Kumar said,“After this we began questioning the people who used to work with Kaka. Kaka,a resident of Chanderlok, used to work in a factory called Abha Industries which is located on Rahon Road and we were told that he was close to two persons. These persons have been identified as Parvesh Kumar and Radhay Shyam. When we questioned these two, they confessed to have killed Surjit Singh.”

As per the police,Surjit Singh who was close to both Parvesh and Rahday Shyam knew that Parvesh and Radhay Shyam used to steal material from the factory and began blackmailing him. He would demand money from the two and soon the demands grew. “The two used to pay up but soon grew tired and planned to kill Surjit. On February 15,Parvesh and Radhay Shyam took Surjit to Radhay Shyam’s house where they made him drink liquor. When Surjit lost consciousness, the two took him on a cycle to this vacant plot and murdered him. Meanwhile Surjit’s mother thought that her son had gone to meet his divorced wife who lives in Hisar and she did not report to the police. But when days began to pass, she called up her daughter in law who told her that Surjit had never come to Hisar, after which the old lady panicked and approached the police for help,” added ADCP Kumar.
