More than 70 people suffered burn injuries from fire crackers and reached various hospitals for treatment on Diwali night in the city. Out of these,six have been admitted while remaining have been discharged after giving them the first aid and necessary treatment.
Dr Sanjeev Uppal,Plastic surgeon of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital said,We received 41 patients with burn injuries due to fire crackers. Out of these,three have been admitted with one of them having suffered a face injury due to rocket attack on face. He has been admitted in plastic surgery ward while the two who also suffered from eye injuries have also been admitted.
He said that the number of patients are almost similar to that of last years and patients of all age groups came with burn injuries.
While 17 patients reported to the casualty at Christian Medical College and Hospital. Dr Kanwal Masih,medical superintendent of the hospital,said,Majority of them were discharged immediately after giving first aid while three patients were admitted . Two of these suffer from eye injuries,while the third one has suffered 80% burns. We received maximum burn cases of right hand and right eye.
While Dr RS Sodhi,Medical Superintendent of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Charitable Hospital,said,The hospital OPD received 13 patients with burn injuries but none of them was seriously injured,so they were discharged immediately.
