Swine flu: 57-year-old man dies, toll reaches to six in Ludhiana

Three kids of less than 5 years of age have been tested positive and all the children are from Ludhiana.

A 57-year-old male patient from Kalal Majra village in Barnala district died of swine flu on Monday, taking death toll of swine flu patients to six in Ludhiana.

Besides, three new patients were tested positive and the total number of patients who tested positive reached 29 out of which 11 are from Ludhiana. Among those who tested positive are a 4-year-old female patient from Islamganj and a 3-year-old male patient from Civil Lines, Ludhiana. A 36-year-old man from Phillaur was also tested positive in CMCH.

District epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma said that patients less than 5 years of age and more than 55 years of age were more prone to swine flu as their bodies had less immunity.

The district health authorities are continuing with their awareness campaign apart from asking educational institutions to tell children the basic guidelines.
