240 take part in diabetic camp

While simple lifestyle modifications can control incidence of diabetes,some simple tests and investigations can effectively prevent complications of diabetes.

This is what people in the Shivpuri locality were told by Dr Surendra Gupta Secretary NIMA Ludhiana in a diabetes camp organised for the the poor and neglected segment of this urban-slum. About 240 people took part in the camp.

The way incidence of diabetes is increasing in India,particularly Punjab,Diabetes care clinics are the need of the hour. It is so because each & every Diabetologist & Family Physician,needs a lot of expertise to tackle Hyperglycemia on one hand and take timely preventive measures to keep Complications like Hypertension,Coronary heart disease,retinal damage of Eyes,Kidney failure etc.

Dr Surendra Gupta said that a diabetic patient needed a few simple investigations on regular basis,to get fair evaluation of the disease-status. Apart from this,various tests are required as Complication Markers.

Team of NIMA Doctors led by Dr Surendra Gupta,Dr Rajesh Thapar,Dr Inder Sharma,Dr K.K.Kharbanda,examined the patients and prescribed necessary medicines free of cost. GS.Randhawa & Charanjit Kumar from PPSAC,while Nitin Gupta,Rajesh Sharma,Franky Garg and Rakesh presented their voluntary services,as supportive staff.
