2 boys mowed down by MC vehicle,ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh announced

A speeding garbage vehicle of the Municipal Corporation which was heading towards the Tajpur Road garbage dump today morning crushed two teenagers to death.

The deceased Rajinder Kumar and Rajnish Patel were going to school on bicycles when the vehicle hit them from behind. Rajinder died on the spot while Rajnish died during treatment at CMCH. Residents of New Puneet Nagar Street Number 2,both were students of Class 10 at the Dayaram Public School.

Vasudev Verma,father of Rajinder,said,Today they had no exam,but they were going to school get details about the new centre from the school. Verma works in a powerloom factory and Rajinder was his eldest son.

Meanwhile,driver Darshan Singh is absconding but the police have registered an FIR against him.

MC Commissioner A K Sinha has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the grieving families.

Senior Deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporation,Parveen Bansal,said,To avoid such incidents,we will train our drivers in future. Old vehicles will be replaced soon.
