11 MC officials suspended

While reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to provide free,fair and transparent administration,Kalia said the accused officers had brought a bad name to the department. The minister further said that Vijay Khanna,Deputy Controller,Local Audit and S S Brar,Assistant Controller,Local Audit,in connivance with the contractors had committed blunders in the re-audit scheme. The minister has ordered their suspension and initiated action against them. “Action has been taken on the basis of an inquiry report submitted by Additional Commissioner K P Brar. None of the accused will be spared,” he said.

Kalia also warned all the officers of the department to discharge their duties with honesty and dedication. Any kind of negligence on the part of the officers would be dealt with firmly,he said. A special Vigilance team has been constituted to check the entire record of the Municipal Corporation and submit the detailed report about the Ludhiana scam within a month.
