Every UP district to have a 100-acre ’employment zone’ named after Sardar Patel: Yogi
Claims a 'flood of govt jobs' in state, says 60 lakh youth employed by private sector through fresh investments

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced that “employment zones” named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel will be set up on 100 acres of land in every district of the state.
Speaking during the inauguration and laying of foundation stone for investment and development projects worth Rs 2,251 crore in the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) area, the CM said these zones will provide training and employment opportunities catering to the youth, creating an industrial ecosystem in the state.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to provide employment to the youth in UP, claiming that there has been a “flood of government jobs” in the state. He highlighted recent “large-scale recruitments and upcoming hiring drives”, saying more than 60 lakh youths secured employment in the private sector through fresh investments.
“The Uttar Pradesh government recently recruited over 60,000 police personnel. A large number of youth from Gorakhpur were also selected. The recruitment of 2,538 child development supervisors has been completed. Soon, we are going to start large-scale recruitment of staff nurses and teachers. The recruitment for sub-inspectors has already been announced, and fresh advertisements for new jobs will be released shortly,” the Chief Minister said.
He also announced to set up a skill training centre and common facility centre of the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) in GIDA’s Plastic Park.
The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore, has been allotted 5 acres of land free of charge by GIDA, he said. At the centre, local youth will be able to pursue diplomas and degrees and receive specialised training to secure employment opportunities, he added.
Criticising the alleged “lawlessness” during the previous Samajwadi Party government in the state, Adityanath alleged that “goonda tax” was the party’s only legacy as extortion from traders and entrepreneurs had become part of their culture.
“During the SP government, entrepreneurs were exploited and goonda tax was rampant. Today, no one dares to do that. And even if anyone tries to do that today, they will find Yamraj (death) waiting for them.”
The CM also targeted the Opposition over questioning electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the voter lists in Bihar and using derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother.
Accusing the previous government of dividing society on caste lines and pushing the state into riots, Adityanath said their politics of appeasement ignored the dignity of women and destroyed the state’s social fabric besides undermining people’s security.
“Those who failed to bring development when they were in power cannot be expected to do so in the future,” he added.
He also attacked the Congress and RJD leaders for allegedly using derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, saying, “This reflects the lowest level of politics. Insulting the Prime Minister’s mother is an insult to 140 crore Indians. New India will never accept such disgrace.”
“Whenever the Opposition parties win elections through EVMs, the BJP accepts the verdict gracefully but when the BJP wins they start blaming these machines and voter lists. The INDI (INDIA) alliance survives only on the politics of appeasement,” he remarked.
The CM added that those who divide the society based on caste, region or language are the biggest obstacles to building “Viksit Bharat” (developed India), and such forces must be uprooted.
Such divisions have always been the root cause of slavery some leaders are again trying to push the country toward bondage through caste politics, he alleged. — PTI inputs
