(File Photo)Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday reviewed the flood situation in Uttar Pradesh’s 11 districts which have been impacted by a continuous rainfall and release of water from the mountainous areas due to an inclement weather in the past three days.
He issued specific instructions to officials from Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Ballia, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Kanpur Nagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Sitapur, Hardoi, and Shahjahanpur to ensure complete preparedness in relief operations.
The Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to personally visit the affected areas, monitor the situation, and accelerate relief efforts. He emphasised the need to provide all possible assistance to the affected people.
Following Adityanath’s instructions, multiple teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) were deployed in the affected districts, a senior goverment official said.
He also instructed District Magistrates to assess crop damage and submit reports to the government so that compensation could be processed for affected farmers.
The CM also called for immediate financial assistance for those whose homes have been damaged or livestock lost due to the floods.
Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami said relief efforts are being made on a war-footing in the 11 flood-hit districts.
Among these districts, Kushinagar, Ballia and Lakhimpur Kheri are the worst-affected, it is learnt. In Kushinagar, five villages have been impacted by the Gandak river, affecting around 8,000 people due to waterlogging.
In Lakhimpur Kheri district, 19,500 people from at least
11 villages have been affected by the floods, with seven experiencing soil erosion.
The Relief Commissioner said that 18 villages in three tehsils of Ballia district are affected by floods, with five villages experiencing soil erosion and crop damage. About 8,300 people are affected by waterlogging in the district.
Relief efforts are also being made in other flood-affected districts, including Kanpur Nagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Sitapur, Hardoi, and Shahjahanpur, officials said.
