With Rs 15 crore in assets,Maneka beats sister-in-law Sonia in riches

The 52-year-old BJP nominee has an investment of Rs 2.12 crore in other financial instruments like national saving scheme,postal savings and LIC. Maneka’s sister-in-law and Congress president Sonia Gandhi,who is contesting from Rae Bareli,had declared assets worth Rs 1.37 crore while her nephew Rahul,who will seek re-election from Amethi,had declared Rs 2.25 crore worth of moveable and immovable assets. Unlike Sonia,who does not have a car,Maneka owns a 2006 made Tavera worth Rs 5.25 lakh. Though Maneka prefers to dress simply,she owns gold jewellery worth Rs 41.41 lakh and silver deposits of over Rs 20 lakh. An animal activist,Maneka owns a licensed rifle worth Rs 40,000 and has a case lodged against her under Sections 394/506 (intimidation and causing hurt) of the IPC. The BJP candidate,who did a course in German language from JNU in 1979,owns a building in Delhi with an estimated cost of Rs 4.57 crore.

Maneka owns another house at Jorbagh in New Delhi which has an estimated cost of Rs 9.8 crore. Besides,she had booked a flat in DLF towers for which she had paid an advance of Rs 71.47 lakh.

For all her moveable and immoveable assets,the BJP candidate paid an income tax of over Rs 19.50 lakh,besides property tax of Rs 46,041 to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
