Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has launched an initiative to power industrial zones with solar energy.

As part of this initiative, UPSIDA has identified 13 new sites for the installation of solar power plants. This aligns with the state’s Solar Energy Policy–2022, which aims to reduce energy costs, curb carbon emissions, and promote environmental sustainability.

The selected locations include Surajpur Site-5, EPIP (Gautam Buddha Nagar), TDS City (Ghaziabad), SEZ (Moradabad), Baghpat, Agra, Mathura, Jhansi, Prayagraj, and Shahjahanpur—strategic industrial hubs that will soon be transformed into solar-powered zones.

To enhance both functionality and aesthetics, the authority is also implementing its “solar path” initiative. This will see the installation of off-grid solar lighting systems across industrial zones to ensure well-lit pathways at night.

“This initiative not only benefits the environment but also helps reduce operational costs,” said UPSIDA CEO Mayur Maheshwari. “We’re encouraging both our own campuses and private industries to adopt solar energy. Our aim is to promote clean energy, reduce emissions, and lower power expenses.”
