UP taekwondoists excel at sub-junior nationals

Uttar Pradesh team collected a maximum of 85 points to grab the winner’s trophy in the 27th National Sub-Junior National Taekwondo Championships held at Vishakhapatnam recently.

Uttar Pradesh team collected a maximum of 85 points to grab the winner’s trophy in the 27th National Sub-Junior National Taekwondo Championships held at Vishakhapatnam recently. In the girls’ section,UP collected 49 points to bag the third spot. With a total of 134 points,UP stood runners-up in the overall team championship section.

The medal winners include:

Boys’ section: Gold: Ravi Kashyap,Shanu Jamal,Pranshu Bhargav,Ranjan Saroj; Silver: Manish Baghel; Bronze: P Kashyap,Rahul Yadav,Akhlaq Ahmed Shah;

Girls’ section: Gold: Shreya Singh; Silver: Suchitra Singh; Bronze: Priya Gupta,Upasana Maurya,Chandni Bano.

Academy cricket
The team of Bulandshahr Academy defeated Gujral Academy by two wickets in their league match of the Gujral’s Inter Academy Cricket Tournament at Pt. RB Tiwari Stadium,Lucknow .

Batting first,Gujral Cricket Academy was bowled out at a total of 89 runs in 24 overs in the 35 overs-a-side match. Dhananjay Mishra (27) and Jaspreet Singh (26) were the main run-getters. Amit Kumar took three wickets giving away 13 runs while Adil took two conceding 20 runs.

In reply,Bulandshahr Academy was able to attain the set mark in 21 overs with two wickets to spare. Nitin with 25 was the top run-getter. Subhash Sahni bowled commendably and claimed five wickets conceding 20 runs in his seven over spell. Pallav Malhotra took two wickets.

Brief Scores: Gujral Academy: 89 all out in 24 overs ( Jaspreet Singh 26,Dhananjay Mishra 27; Amit Kumar 3 for 13,Adil 2 for 20); Bulandshahr Academy: 92 for eight in 21 overs ( Nitin 25,Arvind 18,Komal 14; Subhash Sahni 5 for 20,Pallav Malhotra 2 for 18).

Rishabh shines
An unbeaten 60 run knock by Rishabh Srivastava helped Paul Cricket Academy in defeating NYCC XI by eight wickets in their league match of the Elia Cup Cricket Tournament at Northern Railway Stadium,Lucknow on Thursday. Rishabh’s 60 resulted off 43 balls and featured seven fours and a six.

Brief Scores: NYCC: 128 for six in 20 overs ( Abhijeet Banerjee 34,Ashraf Siddiqui 37,Vinay Mishra 29; Kapil Sharma 2 for 14); Paul Academy: 131 for two in 17 overs ( Rishabh Srivastava 60 not out,Vivek Srivastava 27,Yusuf Safwi 22; Ashraf Siddiqui 1 for 26,Pankaj Singh 1 for 41).

Ashish,Sajid excel
Impressive batting performance by Ashish (63 runs off 53 balls; 9×4,1×6) and a devastating three wicket haul by Sajid Hussain ( 3 for 1) went a long way as St Ann’s Academy defeated Avadh Cricket Academy by 156 runs in their league match of the Ratan Lal Sharma Memorial Monsoon Cricket League at NR Stadium,Lucknow.

Batting first,St. Ann’s Academy scored 201 runs losing five wickets in the given 30 overs. In reply,Avadh Cricket Academy was bowled out at a total of 45 runs in 15.3 overs.

Brief Scores: St. Ann’s Academy: 201 for five in 30 overs ( Ashish 63,Shivam Verma 35 not out,Nitin Yadav 27,Shashank Simon 20; Azeem Anwar 2 for 25); Avadh Cricket Academy: 45 all out in 15.3 overs ( Nawaz 16; Sajid Hussain 3 for 1,Prashant Sharma 2 for 23).

Inaugurated
TWO dormitory halls having a capacity of 98 beds each were inaugurated by Sports Minister (UP) at KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium,Lucknow at 4.30 pm on Thursday. The dormitaries would help in the stay of teams during national and international tournaments.
