The police claimed that they visited the MP’s house several times but he could not be contacted. In the FIR, the complainant also alleged that the MP to keep her silent, promised to marry her and advance her political career, while subjecting her to sexual abuse for four years.

The police have registered the case under Sections 64 (rape), 351 (3) (criminal intimidation) and 127 (2) (wrongful confinement) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

“We have issued a notice to the MP, which has been handed over to his wife,” said Circle Officer Aman Singh.

The victim’s medical examination has been conducted, and her statement recorded before a magistrate. The woman has also submitted electronic evidence, including call recordings between her and the MP, to support her claims, Mishra said.
