UP: Minor girl gives birth to stillborn after rape, man arrested
Police said initially the family avoided the test and instead went to a nearby medical store to buy medicines

A 42-year-old electrician has been arrested on charges of rape after a 12-year-old girl gave birth to a stillborn baby at a hospital on Friday, police said.
According to police, the incident came to light after the girl, who had been complaining of abdominal pain for three days, underwent an ultrasound on a doctor’s advice and was found six months pregnant.
Police said initially the family avoided the test and instead went to a nearby medical store to buy medicines. However, the shop owner refused to provide medicines without a prescription and insisted they follow the doctor’s advice. Eventually, the family agreed to get the ultrasound done.
On returning home, the family confronted the girl about the ultrasound report. She revealed that their neighbour had allegedly sexually assaulted her several times, threatening her each time to keep silent, police said.
According to police, they received information on Friday that a minor girl had been sexually assaulted by an electrician, who is a father of two children, and had become pregnant. The girl was admitted to a hospital, where she delivered a stillborn baby.
“We have arrested the accused and produced him in court, which has sent him to judicial custody. His samples have also been collected for DNA profiling,” said the in-charge of the concerned police station.
Meanwhile, a video circulating on social media shows the accused walking slowly, apparently due to injuries while in police custody.
Police said the victim is admitted to the hospital, where doctors have described her condition as stable.
