The Uttar Pradesh government will set up a bioplastic park in Gola Gokarnnath of Lakhimpur Kheri district at an investment of Rs 2,000 crore, a government spokesperson said.

The park will be developed by the Balrampur Sugar Mills Firm over 1,000 hectares in Kumbhi village of the district on pubic private partnership (PPP) model, he added. The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) will serve as the nodal agency for the park’s development. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that the project be completed as soon as possible.

The park will create a large number of jobs and pave the way for the establishment of many other supporting industries in the area.

Bioplastic is made from natural materials such as corn, sunflower, or sugar beet. It decomposes quickly, thereby reducing environmental pollution. Using bioplastic not only promotes environmental sustainability but can also be used in various industries such as packaging, ready-made garments, electronics, and other industrial products.
