To give Prime Minister Narendra Modi a grand welcome when he arrives in Ayodhya on Monday to take part in the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, the Uttar Pradesh government has built 100 platforms along the road where 2,500 folk artistes will perform, officials said on Sunday.
The UP Culture Department has made the preparations and roped in some of the famous folk artistes. The platforms that will serve as the stage for folk artistes to perform have been set up from Ayodhya airport, where the PM will land around 10.25 am, to the entry gate of the Ram Temple premises.
“Through various forms of dance, music, and singing, the folk artistes will showcase the splendour of Treta Yuga in Ayodhya. A rehearsal for this event was conducted on Sunday,” an official of the state Culture Department said.
Mohit Chaurasia, Rajesh Upadhyay, and Deepak Sharma of Varanasi will be playing damru, Rajiv Lochan Mishra of Ayodhya will be blowing conch. Sultu Ram of Ghazipur; Sanjay Kumar and Sunil Kumar of Azamgarh; and Munna Lal will perform Dhobia folk dance. Gorakhpur’s Chhedi Yadav, Ramgyan and Vindhyachal Azad will perform the Faruahi dance, while Gorakhpur’s Sugam Singh Shekhawat and Rakesh Kumar along with the team will present Vantangiya tribal folk dance.
Furthermore, Juhi Kumari Awadhi of Lucknow and Mansi Visht will welcome the guests with the dance of Uttarakhand. Khajan Singh and Mahipal Bam Rasiya of Mathura and Rajesh Sharma-Manika, Madhav Acharya, and Geetkrishna Sharma will perform Braj’s peacock folk dance.
The team of Pradeep Singh Bhadauria of Jhansi will present the Rai folk dance, the official said.
