Of the 11 CSMMU doctors who were facing charges of private practice, three of them have been given a clean chit by the Executive Council (EC) of the university on Saturday.
The decision was taken after the report of the inquiry committee was submitted to the EC about a week ago. The doctors who were given clean chit are Dr Ashish Wakhlu of Pediatric Surgery,Dr Amod Kumar Sachan and Dr Sarvesh Singh of Department of Pharmacology.
In October 2009,charges were framed against 11 doctors of CSMMU for reportedly being involved in private practice. Thereafter,an inquiry committee comprising Retired Justice Shailendra Saxena and Retired DGP I C Dwivedi was formed to probe the matter. Speaking about the other doctors,Dr Saroj Chooramani Gopal,Vice-Chancellor of CSMMU,said: The resignation of Dr Lav Kakkar of Department of Gastrosurgery has been accepted.
According to Dr Gopal, the EC also confirmed the appointment of various faculty members. Few of the important appointments includes three professors in the Department of Prosthodontics, which was on the verge of de-recognition because of lack of professors in the department and one professor in the Department of Cardio Thoracic Vascular Surgery.
